  • 1.5 lbs steak (ribeye, sirloin, or strip) Choose a cut with some fat marbling for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Avoid overheating to prevent burning.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Unsalted butter is preferable.
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced Garlic adds richness and depth of flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped For garnish.
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional) Adds a fresh touch before serving.

Preparation

  • Take your steak out of the fridge and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes.
  • Pat the steak dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl, combine salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Season the steak evenly on both sides.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over high heat until sizzling hot.
  • Carefully place the steak into the skillet and sear for a few minutes on each side to develop a golden crust.
  • Reduce heat to medium, add butter and let it melt. Add minced garlic.
  • Spoon the garlicky butter sauce over the steak for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Check for doneness using a meat thermometer: 125°F for medium-rare, 135°F for medium, 145°F for medium-well.

Final Touches

  • Remove from heat, squeeze lemon juice over the steak, sprinkle with fresh parsley, and let the steak rest for a couple of minutes.

Notes

Don't rush the searing process. Thinner cuts may require adjusted cooking times. Feel free to try different herbs and spices.
