Preparation

  • Preheat your oven according to the instructions on your cake mix box. Grease and flour your cake pan.

Baking

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake according to the package instructions, usually about 25 to 30 minutes.

Pudding Preparation

  • While the cake is baking, whisk together the vanilla pudding mix with 4 cups of cold milk until it thickens (about 2 minutes).

Layering

  • Once the cake has cooled, slice it into layers if desired. In a large serving dish, layer the cake, pudding, sliced bananas, whipped topping, and vanilla wafers, repeating until all ingredients are used.

Chilling

  • Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving to meld the flavors.

Notes

For best results, use ripe bananas, and consider adding crushed pineapple or chocolate chips for variation. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
